Large and small scale wedding flowers using foam-free techniques and British grown flowers.
Join Jennie from Liberty Lane and Sarah from Compton Garden Flowers on Wednesday, May 13th and Thursday, May 14th, for a two day spring garden wedding masterclass covering natural, organic bouquets, whimsical centrepieces, sweeping large scale urns and floral archway designs.
D A Y O N E – Wednesday, May 13th
Join us on Sarah’s flower farm in Compton Dando for a 9:30am start. We will wander through Sarah’s flower field with a cup of tea in hand as Sarah gives us a tour and shares with us the varieties she is growing this year. Later in the day you will be able to snip some of the most special flowers for yourself, to add to your own designs to take home with you.
We will then split into two groups to focus on two different designs for the morning session. Jennie will lead a session on hand tied, free flowing bridal bouquets using her signature, natural style, and she will help you to achieve your own organic, large scale bouquet to take home. We will use the most beautiful flowers imaginable; May’s finest Foxgloves, Orlaya, Sweet Peas and so much more, and create delicate yet detailed garden style bouquets together.
Sarah will lead group two in large scale, reaching urn designs using seasonal branches, wild foliage and massed garden flowers. These will use foam free mechanics and teach you the fundamentals of urn design on both a large and small scale. Sarah will advise you on cutting and conditioning different varieties of flowers, and how best to care for them.
Following a delicious, home cooked vegetarian lunch, (with tea and cake!) we will swap groups and you will have a chance to take on bouquets or urns for the afternoon session. All the flowers you work with are yours to take home with you to practice a little bit more!
D A Y T W O – Thursday, May 14th
Day two will start bright and early again, focusing on small and large scale elements in two separate groups.
Group one will learn how to make natural, organic styled centrepieces without floral foam, which we will then use to dress our beautiful lunch table. We will cut our own special flowers for these centrepieces, so bring your snips and notebooks to write down your most favourite varieties.
Group two will work in pairs to create two different arch structures, both using foam free techniques. These techniques are especially useful when working in spaces without attaching points, and we will be happy to share our experience and helpful hints and tips for working in trickier environments.
We will have another delicious home cooked lunch, set in the middle of the field surrounded by flowers and dressed with creations from the morning session.
Both days will wrap up at 4:30pm, and you will be able to take home your own creations to enjoy a little while longer.
